The Star of Shineton
Heavens above! Dr. Trevor Hill and his wife Margaret put Sheinton on a different map as he collects a Heritage Star Award from the LHI in London

Sheinton now has its own star! Well, two actually. A real heavenly star is being named after the village but spelt SHINETON the name being more appropriate to a star and is an old spelling of the place anyway. Why? Because our Heritage Group’s chairman, Dr Trevor Hill, has been honored with the title of Midlands Heritage Star by the Heritage Lottery Initiative.

Star Award Award Receivers

The ceremony took place in The Tower of London on July 19th where Trevor’s dedication and outstanding contribution to the group were acknowledged by the wider world, though his qualities have of course been long familiar to members.

Trevor collects his award

Happily, the SHG has benefited to the tune of £400. If you want to see the star in the sky, you know where to look when the correct position in the heavens is being ascertained, but if you want to read some of the work of our earthly star, why not buy a copy of our new book?

No time for sight seeing Trevor, there is work to be done!

Trevor wishes to record his thanks to the group for his nomination and says it was an honour to receive it but he adds that this was really a ‘team effort’. Our group would not have achieved such an amazing project without the help of a dedicated committee and enthusiastic members and volunteers, so the award is really a thank-you to all who took part, they are all stars under the heavenly star named Shineton.
